Football

Our football team have returned having played as Swansea City in the Southern Finals of the EFL Cup. They had a great experience, stopping to pick up their personalised kit at the Liberty stadium before travelling on for a hotel stay at Birmingham. They wore their ‘hoodies’ provided by the Friends of the school and looked great in these. Thank you to the Friends and Menna Kerrison in particular who ensured that these were ready on time for Monday morning.

After an overnight hotel stay in Birmingham they travelled to Boldmere FC to compete with 11 schools who had won the right to represent their regional EFL Championship team. Our players acquitted themselves with pride and great skill, reaching the final and losing 1-0 to a last minute goal to Brentford. Brentford will now play in the EFL Final at Wembley stadium in May.

It has been an incredible journey for our team and they came within one win of playing at Wembley. The day started really well with wins against Norwich, Aston Villa, Nottingham Forest and a resounding  3-0 win against Bristol City in the group stage. They drew 0-0 with Brentford and then progressed into the semi-finals from Group 1. They defeated Group 2 winners Ipswich Town in the semi-final before meeting Brentford for the second time in the final. Again, there was little to separate each team before an exceptional goal saw Brentford run out as winners. We wish Brentford well for their big day at Wembley in May.

200 Club

The 200 Club

Background

The 200 Club was formed and run originally by the parishioners of our church in order to raise money for the construction of our new school building. As a result of their hard work and terrific support, we received a regular and much appreciated source of funds. Our wonderful school building is a testament to work and commitment of many notwithstanding the support through the 200 Club.

The running of the 200 Club has been taken over by the committee of The Friends of Mary Immaculate. In gratitude to the parishioners for their support, it was decided to direct the money raised in future to a parish related project.

Current position

The cost of membership is £10 and the period of membership will be from April to March each financial year (in effect £1 a month with two free months). The draws will take place either on the first Friday of each month in a whole school assembly or, if there is a Sunday parish/school Mass, in the church hall after Mass. The usual monthly draws will give prizes of £30, £20 and £10. The two ‘Super Draws’ in December and July will pay out £150, £100 and £50 in time for Christmas and the Summer Holidays.

The closing date to pay membership fees for the 200 Club will be 31st March each year and attempted payments after that date will be returned. Membership will open again the following year with the same 31st March deadline. An application form is printed below and fees may be paid to the school office. Please make cheques payable to Friends of Mary Immaculate 200 Club.
